The dark waters often hide the hidden wonders of the deep sea. Only rarely does a land creature get to venture into the hidden caves, fathoms below the sea. Only rarely might he be lucky enough to see an underwater city, for none can hold their breath long enough without magic.
Most of the sea-life lives as unaware of the world above them, as the land creatures unaware of the world below. The smaller creatures don't dare to venture near the water's surface. The edge of their world is a frightening place. Only the mermaids and sea dragons, with their larger body shapes, make frequent trips to the surface.
